Privacy & Legal Regulations

At Ivy Psychology, we believe it is important that you feel safe sharing your story. That’s why we handle your personal information carefully and confidentially, fully in line with applicable laws and regulations.

As a client, your rights are secured by the Dutch Medical Treatment Contracts Act (WGBO), the BIG Act, the Healthcare Quality Act, the Healthcare Complaints Act (Wkkgz), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

All information you share with your psychologist remains confidential. It will never be shared with third parties without your consent, unless we are legally required to do so (for example, in case of danger to yourself or others).

Your data is stored in a secure electronic patient file (EPD) that meets all legal safety standards. This file is kept for the statutory retention period of 20 years, unless you request earlier deletion in writing. You always have the right to view your file. A copy can be provided for a reasonable administrative fee.

In this way, we ensure that your privacy is protected while we work together on your recovery.

Complaints Procedure

At Ivy Psychology, we value your satisfaction with the care you receive. If you are ever dissatisfied, we encourage you to first discuss it with us so we can work towards a solution together.

If this does not resolve the issue, you may use the independent complaints procedure through the Dutch Association of Independent Psychologists and Psychotherapists (LVVP), of which Ivy Psychology is a member. The LVVP offers independent complaints officers who can support you in formulating and submitting your complaint.

The LVVP complaints procedure complies with the Healthcare Quality Act (Wkkgz) and also provides access to an independent dispute resolution committee, ensuring your complaint is handled with care and professionalism.

More information can be found on the LVVP website: LVVP Complaints Procedure

Quality Charter

Ivy Psychology has an approved Quality Charter, as required for psychologists providing care within the general basic mental health care (BGGZ).

This document describes how care is organized within our practice, which therapy methods are applied, and how the quality and safety of care are guaranteed.

You can view our Quality Charter here: Download Kwaliteitsstatuut (PDF).

Child Check

Since July 1, 2013, all psychologists registered under the BIG Act are legally required to also consider the wellbeing of any children in the client’s family or immediate environment when working with adults. This legal obligation is known as the Child Check.

The purpose of the Child Check is to identify at an early stage whether additional support may be needed. This is always done with great care and respect, while safeguarding the privacy of the client and their family.
